Dutch Weed Burger Serves Up Vegan Burgers and Fish Bites

Dutch Weed Burger Serves Up Vegan Burgers and Fish Bites | Outbound Herbivore

by Sean Willis

Although Amsterdam may have a reputation for a specific type of weed, the weed in The Dutch Weed Burger is not that. The Dutch Weed Burger is a unique vegan eatery specializes in burgers and ‘fish’ bites made from seaweed

Christopher and I have never been huge fans of eating fish, even before we were vegan. We were a bit skeptical whether we’d like The Dutch Weed Burger because of that, but we had to keep an open mind and give it a shot. And I am SO glad we did!

We settled on the Dutch Weed Dog and the Wish n’ Chips.

The Dutch Weed Dog has a juicy patty that is made of briny soy shreds and Royal Kombu, a tasty and healthy winter weed, sustainably cultivated in the Dutch region of Zeeland. The crispy O-mega bun colors bright green, due to the superfood chlorella, a micro-algae packed with nutritious proteins and Omega acids. Topped with a creamy Weed Sauce, enriched with Sea Lettuce, a fresh summer weed that brings a nice freshness to this meal.

The Dutch Weed Dog has a great texture, meaty, somewhat like Field Roast dogs. The toppings create a delicious, complimentary flavor, a bit spicy, but adds a nice little crunch to go with the dog. The bun was one of my favorite parts of the dog, somewhat crispy, fluffy, and delicious all round.

Wish n’ Chips was definitely more on the fishy side! With Gold Green salty and crunchy weed bites and chips, served with caramelized lime slices and Weed sauce with capers. Made from protein rich soy beans and fried in a chlorella batter.

The chips have a bit of a squishy texture, a little chewy, with a hint of seaweed. With a dip in the tartar sauce, a little bit of lime, I can say I am a fan of these!

Final Thoughts

We’d highly recommend trying The Dutch Weed Burger while in Amsterdam. It’s a different type of offering, especially for vegan food, and will leave a lasting impression from your visit.
